Formlabs: 24 models
Formlabs, based in Somerville, Massachusetts, manufactures desktop and benchtop 3D printers for resin and powder processes. The Form series started with the Form 2 (laser stereolithography), continued with the Form 3 and Form 3+ (Low Force Stereolithography, LFS) and is currently represented by the Form 4 (MSLA with LCD exposure). Each generation exists as a dental version marked B (Form 3B, 3B+, 4B) and as a large-format L version (Form 3L, 3BL, 4L, 4BL). For selective laser sintering of nylon powder Formlabs offers the Fuse 1, Fuse 1+ 30W and Fuse X1. Post-processing equipment comprises Form Wash and Form Cure (Gen 1 and Gen 2, plus the L versions) and Fuse Sift and Fuse Blast for powder recovery and blasting. Dental laboratories, product development, model making, jewelry, medical devices and education are the main fields of use.
The Form 2 is widespread second-hand but discontinued; Form 3 and 3+ dominate current used listings, and the Form 4 is the active generation replacing them. Among the SLS units the Fuse 1 is common, having been succeeded by the Fuse 1+ 30W with a higher-power laser. Resins, resin tanks and build platforms are only partly interchangeable between generations.
Before buying, check whether the printer is still registered to the previous owner in the Formlabs Dashboard, which service or support plans are active, and whether the firmware permits the material you intend to use. Resin tanks are consumables with a limited life per resin type and throughput, and the light engine (the Light Processing Unit on the Form 3) should produce an even image free of streaks or haze. On the Fuse, assess the build chamber, laser window and powder system; Open Material Mode and powder approvals are governed by Formlabs through software. Below you will find the technical data of all 24 Formlabs models in our catalog, together with the ones currently offered used.
