Formlabs Fuse Blast — Technical data
The Fuse Blast automates the post-processing of SLS parts: in a rotating basket with a 450 mm inner diameter, parts are depowdered and cleaned with 200 to 300 µm glass beads, and polished if desired; an in-line ionizer is meant to release electrostatically clinging powder. A complete Fuse build volume fits in the basket, and Formlabs cites around 15 minutes to a finished part. The station measures 100 × 75 × 175 cm, weighs 164 kg and needs compressed air of at least 285 l/min at 6 bar. Besides Fuse parts, parts from other powder bed printers can also be processed.
When buying a used Fuse Blast, factor in the compressed air – Formlabs names a 4 HP compressor as the typical supply. Check blast nozzles, hoses, basket and seals for wear, the condition of the HEPA filter and whether the foot pedals and accessories are complete. Ask whether the optional polishing equipment is present and which blasting media was used. Unlike the Fuse Sift, the Blast does not need a dedicated circuit.
