Formlabs Form 3B+ — Technical data
The Form 3B+ is the revised dental version of the Form 3B and is aimed at labs, practices and clinics. Like the Form 3+, it uses Low Force Stereolithography with a Light Processing Unit (250 mW, 405 nm, 85 µm spot); Formlabs specifies a build volume of 14.5 × 14.5 × 19.3 cm and layer thicknesses from 25 to 300 µm. It is released for 45 Formlabs resins, 18 of them biocompatible, plus third-party resins in Open Material Mode. The printer weighs 17.5 kg and draws 220 W. It was replaced by the Form 4B with LCD-based exposure.
When buying, how the 3B+ was operated matters. Formlabs rates a resin tank at 250 to 800 printing hours or 10 to 35 weeks of resin exposure – so included tanks are often worn out. Check the error log and the LPU, ask about the transfer from Fleet Control or Dashboard, a running service plan and whether tanks were kept separate by resin. For everyday dental work, a package with Form Wash, Form Cure and Build Platform 2 is more practical.
