Markforged, based in Watertown, Massachusetts, produces FFF printers that reinforce polymer filament with continuous carbon, glass or Kevlar fibre (Continuous Fiber Reinforcement, CFR), plus the Metal X system for metal-filled filament. The desktop line consists of the Onyx One, Onyx Pro and Mark Two (each in Gen 1 and Gen 2), the industrial line of the X3, X5 and X7, complemented by the FX10 and FX20 for larger and high-temperature parts. The Metal X prints bound metal powder that is debound in the Wash-1 and sintered in the Sinter-1 or Sinter-2; the PX100 is a metal binder jetting system. Markforged has been part of Nano Dimension since 2025. Jigs and fixtures, machinery, automotive, aerospace and education are the main application areas.
Used listings regularly include the Mark Two, Onyx One, Onyx Pro and X7, often from workshops that have moved on to the FX10 or FX20. Gen 2 desktop printers are revised versions of Gen 1 and look nearly identical, so serial number and build year should be verified. Metal X systems make sense only as a complete set with Wash-1 and furnace; individual components are rarely traded separately.
The decisive factor when buying is the software binding: Markforged printers are operated through the Eiger cloud platform, whose use is tied to a subscription that has to be transferred when ownership changes. Clarify before purchase whether and to what extent the printer remains usable without an active licence. The material system is designed for Markforged filament. Also check print head and nozzles, bed condition, dry storage of the filament (Onyx is moisture-sensitive) and, on the Metal X, furnace condition, gas connections (argon or argon-hydrogen) and the solvent supply of the Wash-1. Below you will find the technical data of all 21 Markforged models in our catalog, together with the ones currently offered used.
