Markforged Onyx One (Gen 2) — Technical data
The Onyx One was the entry model of Markforged's desktop line: a plastics-only printer without continuous fibre that processes Onyx exclusively, i.e. nylon filled with chopped carbon fibre. Housing, bed and the 320 × 132 × 154 mm build volume match the Onyx Pro and Mark Two, and layer height goes up to 200 µm. It was used for fixtures, prototypes and spare parts where Onyx alone is stiff enough. Markforged discontinued the Gen 2 on 15 November 2023, with support until the end of 2028; the Gen 1 had already been phased out in 2019.
Used, the Onyx One is an affordable way into Onyx material, but according to the data sheet it does not process continuous fibre. Before buying, clarify the generation and remaining support period, print hours, nozzle and extruder condition and bed flatness. Also important: the device must be released for use in Eiger, and the term of any existing subscription should be known.
