Markforged X5 (Gen 2) — Technical data

The X5 Gen 2 is the revised version of the fibreglass X5 and followed the first generation, whose sales ended in June 2019; it was itself available until 31 December 2022. Compared with the Gen 1 it has a second-generation extruder that detects both end of plastic and end of fibre, layers up to 200 µm and, according to the 2022 data sheet, a wider range of plastics: Onyx, Onyx FR, Onyx ESD, Nylon White, Precise PLA and Smooth TPU. Fibreglass remains the only continuous fibre. Build volume (330 × 270 × 200 mm), 48 kg weight and laser sensor match the Gen 1. It thus sat between the fibre-less X3 and the X7 with carbon, Kevlar and HSHT fibres.

The Gen 2 was discontinued almost a year before the X3 Gen 2, and its support ends on 31 December 2027, as with the Gen 1 – buyers should expect only a short period of manufacturer backing. Check the part number (F-PR3015 or 21449), print hours, both nozzles, laser calibration and bed flatness. The former product page now redirects to the X7.
