The first-generation Onyx Pro is the predecessor of today's Onyx Pro (Gen 2), Markforged's desktop entry into fibre printing that reinforces Onyx parts with fibreglass. The Gen 1 was taken off sale on 30 June 2019 and replaced by the Gen 2. The data sheet for part number F-PR-4002, no longer offered by Markforged itself, lists a 320 × 132 × 154 mm build volume, 100 µm default layer height and a weight of 16 kg; fibreglass is the only fibre provided for.

When buying, the remaining support period matters most: manufacturer support for Gen 1 desktop devices ends on 31 December 2026, after which spare parts and service from Markforged are no longer available and operation via Eiger is no longer guaranteed. Anyone taking over such a unit should see it running first, check print hours, nozzle condition and bed, and clarify whether spare parts from the seller's stock are included. The price should reflect the end of support.
