Markforged Onyx Pro (Gen 2) — Technical data

The Onyx Pro is Markforged's entry point into continuous fibre printing. It shares housing, build volume (320 × 132 × 154 mm) and bed with the Mark Two but reinforces Onyx parts with fibreglass only; carbon, HSHT glass and aramid are reserved for the Mark Two. This makes it suitable for fixtures, gauges and holders where glass fibre is sufficient, and for companies that want to try composite printing on the desktop first. Besides Onyx it prints Precise PLA and Smooth TPU. The current Gen 2 replaced the Gen 1 in 2019, which has since been discontinued.

When buying used, ask whether the unit can later be upgraded to other fibres or whether a Mark Two is the better choice – clarify this beforehand with Markforged or a reseller. Otherwise the usual points apply: generation and support period, print hours, nozzle condition, bed flatness and handing the device over in the Eiger cloud.
