Markforged X5 (Gen 1) — Technical data
Markforged introduced the first-generation X5 in August 2017 together with the X3. It adds continuous fibreglass to Onyx printing and, according to the data sheet, reaches around 590 MPa tensile strength, many times that of plain Onyx parts. The 330 × 270 × 200 mm build volume, housing and laser for bed levelling and print calibration match the X3; weight is 48 kg. Carbon, Kevlar and HSHT fibres remained reserved for the X7, but according to the manufacturer the X5 could be upgraded to an X7. Sales ended on 30 June 2019; the successor was the X5 Gen 2 with a new extruder and a wider range of plastics.
With a used X5 Gen 1, time is short: support ends on 31 December 2027, and subscriptions can only be renewed until the end of 2026. Key points are part number F-PR-3005, the condition of plastic and fibre nozzles, laser calibration, bed flatness and print hours. Whether the former upgrade to the X7 is still possible should be confirmed by Markforged before buying.
