Renishaw: 15 models
Renishaw, headquartered in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, UK, is a metrology and engineering group that also builds laser powder bed fusion (LPBF/SLM) machines for metal. The first-generation AM250 and AM400 are discontinued; the current line is the RenAM 500 family with the RenAM 500S (single laser), RenAM 500D (two lasers) and RenAM 500Q (four lasers), each offered as Standard, as Flex for frequent material changes, and as Ultra with extended process monitoring and higher build rates. Earlier variants carry the designations RenAM 500M, 500E and 500T. Typical sectors are medical implants, aerospace, dental and tooling.
The used market is dominated by the AM250 and AM400 and by early RenAM 500M units; newer RenAM 500Q machines usually come from series production and are less common. Distinguishing features of Renishaw systems are the closed argon loop with low gas consumption, the evacuation of the chamber before back-filling with inert gas, and powder handling through an integrated glove box, which allows material changes in a sealed atmosphere. Material parameters are open and can be developed in-house using the QuantAM software.
When buying used, check laser operating hours, the condition of the optics and scanner, the gas-tightness of chamber and argon loop, the filter unit, vacuum pump and recirculation blower. Establish whether software licences (QuantAM, InfiniAM) are transferable and whether a Renishaw service agreement can be continued. Operation requires three-phase power, an argon supply, compressed air and a powder room with extraction and explosion protection. Below you will find the technical data of all 15 Renishaw models in our catalogue, along with those currently available second-hand.
