Renishaw AM125 — Technical data
The AM125 was the small laser melting system with which Renishaw, together with the AM250, entered metal additive manufacturing in 2012. Its build volume measures 125 × 125 × 125 mm, and a 100 or 200 W laser works at layer thicknesses of 20 to 100 µm; according to the trade press, the build rate is 5 to 20 cm³ per hour depending on material, density and geometry. As on the AM250, the chamber is evacuated before the build and flooded with high-purity argon, allowing work below 50 ppm oxygen – a prerequisite for titanium and aluminium. It was aimed at research and at medical and dental technology with small parts. The machine is no longer part of the current range.
A used AM125 is a compact entry into laser melting, but technically more than ten years old. First establish whether the 100 W or the 200 W laser is fitted, then check laser hours, protective window, filter, vacuum pump and chamber seals. The available material parameters, a working control computer and whether Renishaw still supplies spare parts also matter. If titanium or aluminium has been processed, cleaning and filter change records belong to the deal.
