Renishaw RenAM 500S Flex — Technical data

The RenAM 500S Flex combines the single laser of the 500S with an open powder system for frequent material changes. Instead of a closed circuit, powder is fed by gravity from a top-mounted hopper; excess powder collects in overflow containers and is sieved externally. Laser, optics, gas flow and the 250 × 250 × 350 mm build volume are the same as on the standard machine, so parameters can later be transferred to a production machine. With the Reduced Build Volume kit, materials can be trialled with as little as 0.25 l of powder. The Flex version came onto the market in 2021.

A used 500S Flex suits laboratories, universities and service bureaus working with changing materials. Clarify laser hours, the condition of hopper, dosing and overflow containers, which materials have been processed and whether an external sieve is included in the sale. If the machine has already been upgraded to a closed powder circuit, that changes its character. Because of its height of 2,794 mm, measure the ceiling height in advance; three-phase power, argon and cooling are needed as on the standard machine.
