CJP ColorJetPrinting: 12 models
CJP, ColorJet Printing, is the powder-binder process of 3D Systems that originated at Z Corporation. A recoater spreads a gypsum-based composite powder (VisiJet PXL), inkjet heads print a clear binder plus CMYK inks layer by layer, and the part emerges directly in full color. After the build, the model is lifted out of the loose powder, depowdered using compressed air and infiltrated with cyanoacrylate or epoxy for strength. No supports are needed, printing is fast, and the powder can be handled without shielding gas. Parts are brittle, not waterproof and have low mechanical strength; they serve as architectural and concept models, presentation pieces, figurines and medical visualizations.
The catalog contains the 3D Systems ProJet CJP 260Plus, 360, 460Plus, 660Pro and 860Pro, as well as the ProJet 160, 260C and 4500, the latter running on plastic powder instead of gypsum. Common second-hand are the ProJet 660Pro and 460Plus and the monochrome ProJet 360, often lightly used from universities and architecture studios.
When buying used, inspect the print heads (commodity HP cartridges on many models, a different technology on the ProJet 4500), clogging in binder lines and cleaning station, the condition of recoater roller, build box and powder extraction, and the integrated depowdering station. Since the CJP line is being phased out at 3D Systems, clarify spare parts and powder availability, remaining stocks of VisiJet PXL and binder, and the 3D Print software license before purchasing. Below you will find the technical data of all 12 CJP models in our catalog, together with those currently offered second-hand.
