3D Systems ZPrinter 650 — Technical data

The ZPrinter 650 was Z Corporation's large full-colour model and one of the most widespread machines for coloured presentation models. It prints with five heads for clear binder, cyan, magenta, yellow and black and reaches 600 × 540 dpi in 24-bit colour. The build volume measures 254 × 381 × 203 mm, and according to the manufacturer it produces two to four layers per minute. Powder is loaded and recycled by vacuum, and the depowdering station has an infiltration area with a carbon filter. Typical applications were architectural and design models, coloured analysis and medical models, and figures. After the 2012 takeover, 3D Systems continued the format as the ProJet 660Pro.

Used ZPrinter 650 units are common and often cheap, but their value depends on the five printheads, which are consumables. Before buying, clarify whether heads, coloured binders and plaster powder are still available and whether third-party material runs reliably. Check the nozzle test and colour output, service station, vacuum conveying, filters, depowdering cabinet and compressed air supply. A control PC with working software should be included, as should maintenance records.
