Realizer: 5 models

Realizer, based in Borchen near Paderborn, Germany, was among the early suppliers of selective laser melting (SLM) machines for metal powder. The company was acquired by DMG MORI in 2017, and the Realizer product lines were subsequently superseded by DMG MORI's LASERTEC SLM machines. The range comprised the SLM 50 for small parts and dental work, the SLM 100 and SLM 125 for laboratory use and short runs, and the SLM 250 and SLM 300i for industrial components in a larger build volume. Typical fields of use were dental technology, jewellery, medical devices, research and toolmaking.

Since no new machines are built under the Realizer name, all five models should be regarded as discontinued. The SLM 125 and SLM 250 are the ones most often seen second-hand, occasionally joined by a compact SLM 50 from a dental laboratory. The machines use a single fibre laser and a comparatively small powder inventory, which keeps material changeovers manageable and makes them attractive for development work. The only direct successor is the LASERTEC SLM series.

Before purchasing, clarify access to spare parts and service, as support now runs through DMG MORI and is not equally assured for every generation. Inspect the laser source and scanner, the recoater and build platform drive, the argon inert gas loop and its filter, and the control software, and confirm whether material parameters are openly editable. Utility requirements vary by model between single-phase and three-phase power, plus argon supply and extraction; handling metal powder is subject to explosion-protection and occupational safety rules.
