WASP 2040 Clay — Technical data
The Delta WASP 2040 Clay is the ceramic version of WASP's small 2040 platform. Instead of a filament extruder, the effector carries the LDM WASP Extruder 3.0, a screw extruder fed with clay paste from a 3-litre aluminium tank by compressed air. Parts are built in a cylindrical volume of Ø 200 × 400 mm with nozzles from 1.5 to 3 mm, or 4 to 8 mm with the larger LDM XL 3.0. WASP quotes up to 150 mm/s and layers up to 0.5 mm. It processes porcelain, stoneware, earthenware, clays and refractory materials. The machine draws only 180 W but needs a compressor delivering at least 8 bar.
On a used unit, extruder and tank deserve the closest look. Dried paste in the screw, nozzle or hose points to poor cleaning, while scoring on the screw suggests abrasive bodies. Check the seals and pressure regulator on the tank and the air connection for leaks. Establish which extruder generation is fitted; WASP highlights retraction as a feature of the 3.0 extruder. The delta arms should run cleanly and without play despite clay dust. WASP does not supply a compressor.
