Stratasys Connex500 — Technical data
The Connex500 was Objet's first multi-material printer, launched in late 2007, and the larger of the two first-generation Connex machines. It builds within 490 × 390 × 200 mm and uses eight print heads to jet two base materials at once, which are blended during printing into Digital Materials with graded hardness. According to the brochure, layers are 16 µm in high-quality mode, with an accuracy of 20–85 µm on small features. Compared with the Connex350 it offers about 65 percent more plate area, so large housings or many small parts fit into one job. Materials include transparent resins, Vero, Tango, Rigur, Durus and Digital ABS Plus. Stratasys stopped selling it in June 2016; the Objet500 Connex uses the same build volume.
Service contracts are no longer available for the Connex500, but material is. At 500 kg and requiring a room climate of 18–22 °C, it makes high demands on transport and site. Before buying, test all eight print heads, check UV lamps, pumps and waste system, and line up an independent technician.
