Essentium HSE 280i HT — Technical data

Essentium introduced the HSE 280i HT in April 2021 as a high-temperature printer with two independent print heads (IDEX). It shares the external dimensions of the HSE 180, and its linear servo motors reach up to 500 mm/s at 1 g acceleration. Both Gen 5 nozzles heat to 550 °C and, according to the trade press, the bed to 190 °C. With one head, 695 × 500 × 600 mm is available; with support or two materials, 595 mm width; in copy mode, twice 395 mm. The machine was intended for PEEK, PEKK, PEI and fibre-reinforced polyamides.

On a used 280i HT, both heads should be tested separately: tool hand-over, height matching between the nozzles and copy mode with two identical parts. Independent mode was only announced at launch; whether it arrived later by firmware should be checked on the unit. The machine needs 200–240 V at 40 A. As Essentium was absorbed into Nexa3D and Nexa3D closed at the end of 2024, there is no manufacturer support any more; the firmware version, account details and spare nozzles should be handed over. With high-temperature use, look closely at cabling, insulation and plate coating.
