BigRep ALTRA 280 — Technical data

The BigRep ALTRA 280 is a high-temperature FFF printer for industrial customers and was presented in May 2024. In a 500 × 700 × 800 mm build chamber, heated like the vacuum print bed to up to 180 °C, up to four water-cooled DSX extruders work with diamond nozzles at up to 450 °C. Servo drives, 400 mm/s travel speed and positioning accuracy below 0.05 mm aim at dimensionally accurate parts in engineering plastics such as ABS, ASA and PC, for example for tools, fixtures and small series. Unlike the other BigRep models, it uses 1.75 mm filament. Together with the smaller IPSO 105 it forms the manufacturer's high-temperature line.

Used ALTRA 280 units are still rarely offered. Because chamber and bed run hot for long periods, check heating elements, seals, the water cooling of the extruders and the filters of the air cleaning unit. How many of the up to four extruders are fitted determines the value. A three-phase 32 A supply and space for around 1.3 tonnes are required. Warranty, service contract and software level should be verified with the manufacturer.
