Zortrax Apoller — Technical data
The Apoller is a post-processing device from Zortrax that smooths printed parts in ABS, ASA and HIPS with solvent vapour. In a closed 300 × 250 × 250 mm chamber, pure acetone or MEK is evaporated under vacuum; the vapour dissolves the surface, layer lines flow together and parts become smoother and denser. The process is automated and can be controlled via touchscreen or network. The device works with parts from any filament printer, not just Zortrax, and draws up to 1.5 kW.
With a used Apoller, safety and tightness come first: chamber seal, vacuum system, condensation and solvent container must be in perfect condition, as flammable vapours are involved. Ask for maintenance records and the condition of filters and hoses. Only pure acetone or MEK are permitted; find out whether other agents were used before. Check hazardous-substance requirements for installation and solvent storage at your own site in advance. A trial run with an ABS part shows whether heating, vacuum and program work correctly.
