ZEISS T-SCAN hawk — Technical data

The T-SCAN hawk is a handheld laser scanner from ZEISS, introduced around 2020 according to third-party sources and replaced by the T-SCAN hawk 2 in 2023. It combines red and blue lasers: according to the US sales partner there are 14 crossed red lines for large areas, four parallel blue lines for details and a single red line for deep pockets, switchable during the scan. The partner gives resolution as 0.05 mm in line mode and 0.01 mm with the single line, while aniwaa states 650,000 points per second and 0.02 mm accuracy. Photogrammetry and dynamic referencing are integrated. Evaluation was done with GOM Inspect.

With a used T-SCAN hawk, calibration and accessories come first: calibration plate, reference markers and connection cable should be complete and undamaged. The latest acceptance report shows whether the device still meets its accuracy figures. Inspect the front windows of lasers and cameras for scratches, as they affect data quality. Evaluation requires a GOM Inspect or ZEISS INSPECT licence; clarify with ZEISS whether it is transferable and whether newer versions support the first hawk.
