ZEISS ATOS 5X — Technical data

The ATOS 5X was presented in 2018 together with the ATOS 5 as part of the fifth ATOS generation. Instead of LED it uses a laser light source, which GOM called the Laser Light Compressor; it provides enough brightness for measuring fields of up to 1,000 mm at a working distance of 880 mm. Each scan yields 12 million measuring points, and acquisition takes about 0.2 seconds. The sensor is intended for large parts such as car bodies and tools in automated measuring cells, at launch mainly in the ATOS ScanBox Series 8. For even larger volumes ZEISS now offers the ATOS LRX.

Used ATOS 5X units mostly come from robot cells. Clarify whether the sensor is offered alone or with cell, robot and controls, and whether relocation including recalibration by ZEISS can be arranged. Because of the laser source, check the laser class on the rating plate and clarify safety requirements at the new site. Operating hours of the light source, calibration objects for the fields in use, and the ZEISS INSPECT licence and dongle belong on the checklist. ZEISS should confirm in writing whether the licence is transferable and whether a maintenance contract continues.
