Xact Metal XM200S — Technical data

From 2018 the XM200S was the more powerful sister model of Xact Metal's XM200C, with the same 127 × 127 × 127 mm build volume but a 200 W fibre laser and a galvanometer scanner reaching up to 8 m/s instead of the gantry mechanism. The manufacturer also cited active compensation of thermal drift and a patent-pending bulb-shaped recoater. At 940 × 610 × 1,715 mm and around 272 kg it is considerably larger than the XM200C and needs 200–240 V single-phase at about 2.9 kW. Deliveries started in autumn 2018; in 2021 the series was absorbed into the XM200G.

When buying a used XM200S, the condition of the galvo scanner and focusing optics matters most, as calibration to the build field is laborious. Also inspect laser hours, protective glass, the filter housing with its inert swap sleeve, overflow container and seals. Ask which material parameters are enabled and whether the open parameter access for your own powders is transferable. Spare-parts supply and service commitments for the discontinued model should be in writing; distribution partners handle service in Europe.
