WASP Crane — Technical data
The Crane WASP is WASP's modular construction printer and was presented in 2018; it became known through earth buildings such as Gaia and the TECLA housing module. Instead of a closed build volume, it works from a 5.2 m column with a 4.3 m arm and reaches a print area of Ø 8.2 × 3.2 m. Several modules can be coupled into larger installations. The LDM XXL twin-screw extruder lays layers of 12 to 20 mm through nozzles from 25 to 38 mm; a supplied pump delivers earth, lime, cement or gypsum mixes. According to the FAQ, conventional concrete with coarse aggregate is excluded.
A used Crane WASP has to be dismantled, transported and realigned on load-bearing ground, so assembly documents and experience with installation are important. The pump, with its 35 bar maximum pressure, deserves particular attention: stators, hose and seals wear from mineral materials. On the extruder look for worn screws, and on the column and lifting system for corrosion from outdoor use. Ask whether CraneApp and the controller still receive updates. A mixer is not part of the scope of supply and must be added.
