Voxeljet VX1000 PMMA — Technical data

The VX1000 PMMA is the investment casting version of the VX1000 from the voxeljet range, now offered by ExOne. Instead of sand it processes PMMA powder bound with Polypor B binder in 0.15 mm layers; the printhead works at 600 dpi, and accuracy is ±0.4 %, at least 0.3 mm. In the 1,000 × 600 × 500 mm job box it produces burn-out patterns that behave much like wax patterns in investment casting and require no injection moulding tool. Users are investment foundries making prototypes and small series, up to aerospace parts with wall thicknesses below one millimetre.

When buying used, it is decisive whether the machine ran continuously in PMMA mode or was converted, as binder and powder handling differ from sand printing. Check the printhead, recoater, job box and the equipment for unpacking the patterns. Maintenance logs and sample parts from the machine help with the assessment. After the merger of voxeljet and ExOne, spare parts and binder come from a single source.
