UltiMaker S5 — Technical data
The S5 appeared in 2018 as Ultimaker's large dual-extrusion printer and shaped the S series for years; the S7 and later the S6 build on it. It prints in 330 × 240 × 300 mm with Bowden feeding and swappable print cores, the nozzle reaches 280 °C, and the heated glass plate goes up to 140 °C and is measured capacitively. The chamber is only partly enclosed and warms passively. With Material Station and Air Manager it was sold as the Pro Bundle; both can be retrofitted.
The S5 is common on the used market and therefore easy to compare. Important are the year of manufacture, as early units received revised parts over time, the number of print hours and the condition of the feeder knurls. Check the glass plate for chips, verify the levelling sensor with a test print and make sure all print cores are included. Firmware should be current so that Material Station and Air Manager are recognised. Spare parts are still widely available, also from third parties.
