UltiMaker 3 Extended — Technical data

The Ultimaker 3 Extended is the tall variant of the Ultimaker 3 with identical dual print head and the same electronics. Build height grows from 200 to 300 mm, while the footprint stays at 215 × 215 mm per nozzle or 197 × 215 mm with two materials. Typical uses were long housings or prototypes with water-soluble PVA support printed upright. In Ultimaker's range the S5 with 330 × 240 × 300 mm later took over this role, offering considerably more footprint at the same height.

With a used 3 Extended, a full-height test print is worthwhile, because faults in the leadscrew, Z guides or loose belts only show near the top. The print cores should be free of clogs, especially the BB core for PVA, and nozzle lifting must switch cleanly. The camera is useful for remote monitoring, but the old app behind it is hardly maintained any more. Spare parts such as fans, Bowden tubes or glass plates are still available, partly from third parties.
