UltiMaker 2 Extended+ — Technical data

The Ultimaker 2 Extended+ is the tall version of the Ultimaker 2+ and shares print head, electronics and operation with it. Instead of 205 mm it offers 305 mm of build height, while the footprint stays at 223 × 223 mm. This makes it suitable for vases, housings, lamps or long functional parts that would have to be split on the standard model. It prints 2.85 mm filament through a Bowden single extruder with four supplied swappable nozzles, the glass plate heats up to 100 °C, and data come via SD card. A networked Extended version was never released.

Because of the longer Z axis, a used Extended+ deserves a close look at leadscrew and guide rods: scoring, play or lack of lubrication show up as ribs on tall prints. The glass plate should be flat and the clamps tight. As with its smaller sibling, the PTFE isolator, nozzles, fans and belts wear, but the parts remain available from third parties. Due to the greater height, ensure secure packaging for transport and fix the print head so that axes and Bowden tube are not damaged.
