UltiMaker 2+ — Technical data

From 2016 the Ultimaker 2+ was one of the most widespread desktop printers in workshops, universities and design studios. It works with a Bowden single extruder for 2.85 mm filament, a heated glass plate up to 100 °C and a 223 × 223 × 205 mm build volume. Typical is the swappable nozzle system with four nozzles from 0.25 to 0.8 mm, which were included, plus the improved geared feeder compared with the Ultimaker 2. Print files come via SD card; there is no network connection. The continuation with network and touchscreen is the 2+ Connect.

Many used 2+ units have thousands of hours behind them. When buying, check for play in the axis bushings, worn belts, the condition of the PTFE isolator in the print head and properly running fans. All four nozzles should be included, and glass plate and clips should be undamaged. As the printer works without cloud, there is no account link; firmware can be updated via Cura. Spare parts now mainly come from third parties, but the device is well documented and easy to repair.
