Trumpf TruPrint 5000 Green Edition — Technical data

The TruPrint 5000 Green Edition transfers the green laser concept to TRUMPF's large production platform. Instead of infrared fibre lasers it uses a TruDisk disk laser at 515 nm, which delivers up to 800 W to the workpiece and is absorbed far better by copper. This allows processing of pure copper with high electrical conductivity, copper alloys and, according to the flyer, aluminium alloys, for example for inductors or heat exchangers. Build cylinder, layer thicknesses of 30 to 150 µm and preheating to 200 °C match the standard machine; the spot is 210 µm. The system was presented at Formnext 2022.

Used Green Editions are rare, which makes complete documentation all the more important. Machine and TruDisk laser carry separate rating plates; check both for year, version and that they belong together. Critical points are laser hours as well as light cable, optics and protective glasses, since reflective copper puts more strain on these components. Filter unit, exchangeable cylinders and seals should be maintained and the powder history complete, as copper powder ages through oxygen and moisture. Whether copper parameters are licensed in TruTops Print and TRUMPF will take over service belongs in the contract.
