Trumpf TruPrint 5000 — Technical data

The TruPrint 5000 is TRUMPF's production system for powder bed series manufacturing, with a build cylinder 300 mm in diameter and 400 mm high. Three fibre lasers of 500 W each expose the entire build field at the same time; the platform can be preheated to 200 °C as standard and to 500 °C as an option, which helps with crack-prone materials such as tool steel. Exchangeable cylinders and external powder stations shorten set-up times. Since the 2018 flyer the laser count is unchanged: it stated a variable 100 to 500 µm spot and 63 A, today it is an 80 µm spot, 32 A and options such as Preform and automatic multilaser alignment.

When buying a used TruPrint 5000, year and equipment come first: check the rating plate and have preheating level, monitoring and Preform documented. Laser hours of all three sources, protective glasses, scanners and overlap calibration are major cost drivers, as are filter unit, cylinders, cooling station and seals. At over seven tonnes the system needs a load-bearing foundation and a reliable inert gas supply. Ask about powder history, transferable TruTops Print licences and whether TRUMPF commits to service and spare parts for that year of build.
