Stratasys Fortus 400mc — Technical data
The Fortus 400mc belonged to the mid-range of the Fortus line and was originally introduced as the FDM 400mc. It builds 355 × 254 × 254 mm, or 406 × 355 × 406 mm with the upgrade, and achieves ±0.127 mm or ±0.0015 mm/mm. Besides ABS and PC materials it processes high-temperature materials such as ULTEM 9085 and PPSF, which are in demand for fixtures and parts in aerospace and vehicle engineering. Compared with the cheaper 360mc it offered more speed and features. Stratasys currently offers the Fortus 450mc in this class.
Anyone buying a used 400mc should have the configuration documented: envelope size, enabled materials and the print heads and tips supplied, since high-temperature materials such as ULTEM and PPSF need their own tips and a matching configuration. Power is three-phase 230 V. At almost 600 kg and nearly two metres tall, transport is demanding. For a model no longer sold for years, canister supply, spare parts for chamber and gantry and the Insight licence are the central checks.
