Stratasys FDM 3000 — Technical data
Stratasys introduced the FDM 3000 in 1999 together with WaterWorks, a support material that dissolves in a water-based solution and so spares breaking supports away. It shares the footprint and 110 V supply of the FDM 2000 but offers 406 instead of 254 mm of build height, giving about 254 × 254 × 406 mm. Between the compact FDM 2000 and the large FDM 8000, it is the model for tall, slender parts and geometries with internal supports. The support page lists ABS grades with support material. The machine is discontinued and only covered by legacy support.
With a used FDM 3000, check whether the WaterWorks option is actually fitted and a suitable wash tank is included. A test print, the condition of the extrusion head and the Z axis over the full height, and material sourcing also matter. It needs 110 V on a dedicated 20 A line, which in Europe may require a transformer. Manufacturer service should not be expected.
