Stratasys FDM 2000 — Technical data
The FDM 2000 appeared in 1997 as an improved version of the FDM 1650; at the time Stratasys cited 30 to 40 percent more throughput thanks to revised hardware and software. It builds within a cube-shaped volume of about 254 × 254 × 254 mm and runs on 110 V with a dedicated 20 A line. Within the trio it is the base model: the FDM 3000 offers more build height on the same footprint plus WaterWorks soluble support, and the FDM 8000 a much larger build volume. The support page lists ABS grades with support material; the machine was used for prototypes and fixtures. It has long been discontinued.
Today a used FDM 2000 is mainly of interest for teaching, collections or technology history rather than production. Before buying, ask for a test print, check the extrusion head and axes, and find out whether filament in a suitable form is available. In Europe, the 110 V supply needs planning. There is no manufacturer service, and spare parts come at best from used stock.
