Shining 3D OptimScan Q9 — Technical data

The OptimScan Q9 is the smaller sister model of the Q12, intended for companies that need the accuracy of the Q series but not the highest point density. Instead of four 12.3 MP cameras it uses four 9 MP cameras, giving a point distance of 0.05 mm in the small and 0.11 mm in the large range. Shining 3D gives the same fields, working distances and accuracy for both models: 160 × 110 mm with 0.005 mm and 430 × 300 mm with 0.015 mm. The head weighs 3.5 kg, measures 366 × 162 × 132 mm and uses blue LED projection. A shot takes under a second.

When buying used, the Q9 is hard to tell from the Q12 externally, so check the rating plate and device info in the software. Calibration plates for both ranges and a current calibration certificate are important. Tripod, rotary table, cables and transport case should be complete, as replacements are expensive. Inspect the camera optics for dust and scratches. Inspection software is usually licensed separately; clarify beforehand whether licences are included and transferable. Plan for a capable processing computer.
