Shining 3D OptimScan 5M Plus — Technical data

The OptimScan 5M Plus is a stationary blue-light structured-light scanner for inspecting small to medium parts and was presented at the Control trade fair in 2024. Two 5 MP cameras and narrow-band blue LED projection work with interchangeable lens sets: according to the manufacturer the 400 × 300 mm field achieves 0.015 mm, 200 × 150 mm 0.01 mm and 100 × 75 mm 0.005 mm, at point distances from 0.16 to 0.04 mm. A shot takes no more than 1.5 seconds, and an HDR function helps with high-contrast surfaces. The head weighs 6.8 kg. It replaced the OptimScan 5M and sits below the more compact OptimScan Q series.

Anyone buying a used 5M Plus should first clarify which lens sets are included, as each field needs its own optics and calibration plate. Changing optics requires recalibration, so the plates must be complete and undamaged. Check tripod, rotary table, cables and control computer. A current calibration certificate matters for inspection reports. The software is tied to the serial number; ask the manufacturer about transfer. The LED projection hardly wears, but the cameras should be free of dust.
