Shining 3D OptimScan 5M — Technical data
The OptimScan 5M was Shining 3D's stationary blue-light structured-light scanner for inspecting small and medium parts before the Plus generation. It uses 5 MP cameras and interchangeable optics for three standard fields of 400 × 300, 200 × 150 and 100 × 75 mm, with custom fields on request. According to dealer information from 2020, it achieves 0.015, 0.01 or 0.005 mm single-shot accuracy depending on the field, 0.08 mm/m volumetric, at point distances from 0.16 to 0.04 mm and under 1.5 seconds per shot. Scan depth is 100 to 400 mm. The manufacturer now lists the unit only under support; its successor is the 5M Plus.
Used, the 5M is an entry into stationary optical metrology but requires experience with calibration and lens changes. What matters is which lenses come with it and whether a calibration plate is present for each field. Ask the manufacturer which software version still supports the unit and whether the licence can be transferred. Check tripod, rotary table and cables. Inspect cameras and projector for dust and ask for a test report on a reference part.
