Shining 3D FreeScan UE Pro2 — Technical data

The FreeScan UE Pro2 is the second generation of the UE Pro handheld laser scanner and mainly adds speed and wireless operation. Instead of 26 it uses 50 crossed blue laser lines, plus 7 parallel lines and a single line, reaching 3.46 million points per second at up to 180 frames per second. An integrated computing module and Wi-Fi allow wireless work via a router, with a USB-C power bank supplying power. Shining 3D quotes 0.02 mm accuracy, 0.02 + 0.015 mm/m with photogrammetry, a field of view of 600 × 550 mm and a weight of 950 g. The scanner is acceptance-tested to VDI/VDE 2634 Part 3.

Used, the UE Pro2 is interesting for toolmaking, foundries and reverse engineering. Test the Wi-Fi module and check cable, power supply and power bank. Inspect laser diodes for even line brightness and camera lenses for scratches. The FreeScan licence is tied to the serial number and is transferred via support. Calibration plate, markers and a current calibration report belong in the package. For wireless operation the manufacturer recommends a Wi-Fi 6 router; a direct wireless link to the PC is not provided.
