Shining 3D FreeScan Trio — Technical data

The FreeScan Trio is a handheld laser scanner for metrology with three 5 MP industrial cameras, hence the name. The third camera enables a marker-free mode with 98 laser lines in which parts are captured without stick-on reference targets, saving time in series inspection. For accurate measurement with markers there are 26 crossed lines, 7 parallel lines for detail and a single line for holes. Shining 3D quotes 0.02 mm accuracy, 0.02 + 0.015 mm/m volumetric with photogrammetry, up to 3 million points per second and a field of view of up to 650 × 580 mm. Data flows into the FreeScan software, with no subscription.

With a used Trio, the marker-free mode is the main reason to buy, so it should work in a test on a typical part. Inspect all three cameras and the laser windows for scratches and dirt. A current calibration report and the calibration plate belong with it; for metrology work a certificate from an accredited lab is better. The FreeScan licence must be transferred by the manufacturer. Check cable and power supply are complete. The PC should have a current RTX graphics card.
