Shining 3D FreeScan Trak ProW — Technical data

The FreeScan Trak ProW is the wireless development of the Trak Pro2: an optical tracker follows a handheld laser scanner so that large parts can be measured without stick-on markers. The scan head uses 50 crossed blue laser lines for fast surfaces, 7 parallel lines for detail and a single line for deep areas, reaching 5.5 million points per second. Shining 3D quotes 0.023 mm accuracy and volumetric accuracy of 0.046 mm in the 12 m³ volume up to 0.125 mm at 100 m³, and 0.044 + 0.012 mm/m with VPG. Data is transferred via Wi-Fi or fibre optic. Since 2026 the ProW+ has been available as its successor.

When buying a used ProW, completeness is crucial: tracker, scanner, fibre optic cable, router, batteries or power bank and calibration artefacts belong together. A current calibration certificate or a recalibration by the manufacturer should be a condition. The FreeScan software can be used without subscription, but the licence must be transferred to the new owner. Large measuring volumes need a tripod for the tracker. Plan for a PC with RTX graphics and plenty of memory.
