Shining 3D FreeScan Trak Pro2 — Technical data

The FreeScan Trak Pro2 is the second generation of the optical tracking system and was presented in April 2024. It consists of the FreeTrak tracker, the TE25 handheld scanner and the optional FreeProbe. Compared with the Trak Pro, the laser line count rose to 50 crossed lines, plus 7 parallel lines and a single line; the rate reaches 3.07 million points per second. Shining 3D quotes 0.023 mm accuracy, 0.062 mm volumetric in a 9.6 m³ volume and 0.044 + 0.012 mm/m with photogrammetry. The field of view measures up to 650 × 580 mm. It was succeeded by the wireless Trak ProW.

When buying a used Trak Pro2, be clear about which components are included, especially whether a FreeProbe is part of the set. Tracker and scanner are calibrated together; ask for the calibration certificate and acceptance report to VDI/VDE 2634. According to the manufacturer the FreeScan licence has no time limit, but it must be transferred to the new owner. Check the tracker tripod, cables and case. Test laser diodes and tracker cameras in operation. A computer with RTX graphics and 64 GB RAM is advisable.
