Shining 3D FreeScan Trak Pro — Technical data

The FreeScan Trak Pro was the first optical tracking measurement system of the FreeScan range; the available brochure dates from 2023. A FreeTrak Pro tracker weighing 7.2 kg follows the TE17 handheld scanner, so parts from 0.1 to 10 m can be measured without stick-on markers. The scanner uses 34 crossed and 7 parallel blue laser lines and reaches 1.37 million measurements per second with a 600 × 500 mm field of view. Shining 3D stated accuracy of up to 0.023 mm and volumetric accuracy of 0.062 mm in a 9.1 m³ volume. Data was transmitted via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. The system was replaced by the Trak Pro2 in 2024.

Used, the Trak Pro offers a route to marker-free measurement of large parts, but it is also the oldest system in the family. Before buying, ask the manufacturer whether current FreeScan versions still support it and whether recalibration is offered. Tracker and scanner are a calibrated pair, so compare serial numbers. Tripod, cables, calibration artefacts and transport case must be complete. Check the condition of the tracker cameras and scanner laser diodes. A current calibration report is essential for measurement work.
