Shining 3D FreeScan Trak Nova — Technical data

The FreeScan Trak Nova is a wireless measuring system that combines an optical tracker with two scan heads: the TE Nova for marker-free tracking and the UE Nova, which can also be used as a standalone long-range handheld scanner. It works with blue laser, using 50 lines for fast scanning and 7 parallel lines for detail. Shining 3D quotes 0.02 mm accuracy, volumetric accuracy of 0.062 mm in the 12 m³ volume and 0.046 + 0.012 mm/m with built-in video photogrammetry. The TE Nova weighs 1.2 kg and the UE Nova 1.6 kg. In autumn 2026 it was followed by the Trak Nova+ with more laser lines.

A used Trak Nova must be traded as a complete set, as tracker and scan heads are calibrated together. Buyers should clarify whether both scan heads are included or only one. Swappable batteries age; on the UE Nova one charge lasts only about an hour according to the manufacturer. Check router, fibre optic cable and charging station. A calibration certificate to VDI/VDE 2634 should be available. FreeScan Trak software needs no subscription, but licence and firmware updates depend on the serial number.
