Shining 3D FreeScan Omni — Technical data
The FreeScan Omni is a standalone metrology scanner that combines scanning and evaluation in one device. A 5.5-inch touchscreen lets users take measurements directly at the part and compare them with CAD data, without a laptop alongside. Light comes from 93 crossed and 25 parallel blue laser lines, a single line and an infrared VCSEL for fast marker-free capture. Shining 3D quotes 0.02 mm accuracy, 0.02 + 0.03 mm/m volumetric, 0.02 + 0.015 mm/m with VPG video photogrammetry, and 7.6 million points per second. The unit weighs up to 1.1 kg. The Omni series is new; the Lite variant differs only in its software scope.
With a used Omni, first clarify which software modules are unlocked, as on-device inspection, VPG and AI feature recognition make the difference to the Lite. Unlocks are tied to the serial number and must be transferred. The scanner needs four batteries at once, and eight are supplied; check all for capacity. Test the touchscreen for scratches and response. Calibration plate, calibration certificate and current firmware are essential if the unit is to be used for inspection reports.
