Shining 3D FreeProbe 2 Pro — Technical data

The FreeProbe 2 Pro is the larger version of the optical probe for the FreeScan Trak Nova and Trak ProW tracking systems. Compared with the FreeProbe 2 it is longer at 454.5 mm and heavier at 0.59 kg, but according to the manufacturer measurement remains stable even when individual marker plates are partly hidden, for example when probing in cavities or behind edges. The larger battery lasts up to 80 hours with two swappable batteries. Shining 3D gives probing accuracy and volumetric values jointly for both probes: 0.025 mm at the probe and 0.062 mm in a 12 m³ volume with the Trak Nova.

Anyone looking for a used FreeProbe 2 Pro should ideally buy it together with the tracker it was calibrated with, or plan a recalibration by the manufacturer. The marker plates are the most sensitive part: scratches or detached markers falsify measurements. Check probe tips and extensions for bending. The long-life batteries are expensive to replace, so test their condition. A certificate to ISO 10360 should be available if the probe is used for inspection reports.
