Shining 3D FreeProbe 2 — Technical data

The FreeProbe 2 is a wireless optical probe for the FreeScan Trak Nova and Trak ProW tracking systems. The tracker recognises the marker plates on the probe and calculates the position of the probe tip, so holes, edges and datum surfaces that a laser scanner struggles with can be probed. Shining 3D quotes 0.025 mm probing accuracy; volumetric accuracy depends on the tracker and is 0.062 mm in a 12 m³ volume with the Trak Nova. At 0.46 kg and 363 mm long, the FreeProbe 2 is the lighter version of the series, and two batteries last up to 16 hours. Two probe tips, an extension and an L adapter are included.

Used, the FreeProbe 2 only makes sense together with a suitable tracker; before buying, clarify whether it is compatible with the existing system and can be calibrated with it. Check probe tips for damage and negotiate spare tips. The marker plates must not be scratched or dirty. Test batteries and charger. Inspection reports require a calibration certificate to ISO 10360. Evaluation runs in SHINING3D Inspect or third-party software, whose licence must be clarified separately.
