Shining 3D EP-M450 — Technical data
The EP-M450 is the large laser melting system of the EP-M range from the Shining 3D era. The build volume measures 455 × 455 × 500 mm, and exposure is by one or optionally two 500 W fibre lasers with an 80 to 120 µm focus. The brochure gives 15 to 35 cm³/h with one laser and 25 to 55 cm³/h with two, at 20 to 100 µm layer thickness. A coarse and fine filter system with blow-back is meant to last more than 1,000 hours. The system measures 5,500 × 3,300 × 3,100 mm and weighs 10,300 kg. Eplus3D still lists an EP-M450 in its Atlas range.
At over ten tonnes, a used EP-M450 is a project involving haulage, a crane and a check of floor loading. Before buying, check laser hours for both sources, protective glass, scanner calibration and filter hours including blow-back. Residual oxygen above 100 ppm in operation points to seal or gas flow problems. Powder history is also a question of quantity here: how much powder is included, in what condition, with what traceability? Whether today's Eplus3D model is identical remains open, so agree service, spare parts and EPHatch licences specifically with Eplus3D.
