Shining 3D EP-M150 — Technical data

The EP-M150 is a compact metal laser melting system that Shining 3D presented in May 2019. The cylindrical build volume measures Ø 150 × 120 mm, and exposure is by a 200 or 500 W fibre laser, or optionally two 200 W lasers, with a 40 to 60 µm focus at up to 8 m/s. Layer thickness ranges from 20 to 100 µm, with argon or nitrogen as shielding gas. The system runs on 220 V at 3.5 kW and weighs around 900 kg. The metal line now sits with Eplus3D, which still offers a model of the same name; Shining 3D no longer lists it.

When buying used, ask for documented laser hours, the actual laser configuration and the condition of protective glass and scanner optics. Filter history, the oxygen sensor and chamber tightness show the state of maintenance. Powder history is important: which materials were run, was the machine cleaned between materials, and are there reactive residues such as titanium or aluminium in the filter? Spare parts, software licences and parameter sets are now handled by Eplus3D; check whether it supports Shining 3D-era machines. Inert gas, extraction and fire protection for powder handling belong in site planning.
