Shining 3D EINSTAR VEGA — Technical data

The EINSTAR VEGA is a standalone scanner from the prosumer brand that looks like a smartphone and scans without a PC. Its 180 × 95 × 26.5 mm housing contains an eight-core processor, 32 GB RAM, a 512 GB SSD, a 6.4-inch OLED display and a 5,000 mAh battery. It scans in two infrared modes: HD with a MEMS projector for small objects at 100 to 350 mm distance and resolution down to 0.05 mm, and Fast with VCSEL for medium to large objects at 270 mm to 1.5 m. A 48 MP camera captures colour texture. The unit weighs 535 g, the Limited Edition 643 g. The manufacturer gives no accuracy figure.

When buying a used VEGA, check it much like a mobile device: display, battery condition, charging socket and housing. A 65 W PD charger belongs with it. Be sure to confirm that the unit has been released from the previous owner's account and reset to factory settings, otherwise updates and cloud functions are blocked. Ask for the calibration board. According to the manufacturer, post-processing with StarVision needs a computer with a Core i7 and 32 GB RAM or a Mac with Apple silicon.
