Shining 3D EINSTAR 2 — Technical data

The EINSTAR 2 is the second generation of the prosumer scanner and moves from a pure infrared principle to a hybrid system. For detail it uses 17 parallel blue laser lines, reaching up to 2.5 million points per second in Laser HD mode at a resolution down to 0.05 mm; for fast scans of large objects and people there is an infrared VCSEL mode with up to 4.8 million points per second and a field of up to 1,170 × 1,385 mm. A built-in battery lasting up to three hours and Wi-Fi make the 420 g unit wireless. The software is called EXStar Hub. The manufacturer gives no accuracy figure.

On a used EINSTAR 2, check the battery first; it is replaceable but determines runtime. A 60 W USB PD charger is recommended. Inspect laser window and camera for scratches and run test scans in laser and IR mode. The device account in EXStar Hub must be released by the previous owner. For processing the manufacturer requires a powerful computer, for example with RTX 3060 laptop graphics and at least 32 GB RAM, or a Mac with Apple silicon.
